Birth Doula: Alexis Neris
There’s not enough words to describe my experience with the help and guidance of Chrissy & Hollie. They made the entire process of being pregnant and giving birth an experience I’ll never forget. I didn’t sign up with Om Mama Doulas until I was about 5 months pregnant when my journey and idea of what I wanted for my birth plan changed dramatically. I went from an OBGYN to the Avon Midwives with the guidance of the doulas. My plan changed right after my husband and I watched the documentary “the business of being born”, a documentary I’d suggest any new mom/parent watch when deciding which path to choose for mom and baby. My birth plan didn’t 100% go as planned and the saying when life throws you lemons, make lemonade couldn’t be anymore true. , at were readily available to always answer any and all questions my husband and I had. The day I got admitted to the hospital due to leaking, come to find out my water had ruptured with a slow leak and I was 3-4cm dilated. Medically, I had to be admitted due to the risk of infection. I wanted a water birth or at least the opportunity to be in and out of the shower during labor but that couldn’t happen because I was hooked up to monitors. Once we were admitted Chrissy and Hollie came right to the hospital to be there with us. Chrissy stayed there throughout the entire night with us. My labor wasn’t progressing and my contractions weren’t strong enough to allow my body to continue dilating. Baby stayed 80% effaced in a -2 station for almost 12 hours until I was given a low dose of pitocin. I went from a level 2 drip to a level 6 and spent 2.5 hours in active labor without epidural which going unmedicated was my BIGGEST must during labor/delivery. Not too long after my contractions were 2 minutes long, 15 seconds apart which lead to me pushing for 10 minutes and out came baby boy! Chrissy guided me through everything with exercises, breathing techniques, relaxation, and more. Without her there I don’t know what we would have done. Cannot say enough great things about our team and I am forever grateful to each of them. I will never have another birth without them by our side as it made my experience that much more enjoyable as painful as it was. Teamwork makes the dream work! Kudos to you ladies for empowering like minded women to be the best version of themselves when it comes to birth. WE ARE POWERHOUSES and it’s amazing what a woman’s body is capable of. THANK YOU A THOUSAND TIMES OVER! Xoxox
