Birth Doula : Kim P

Hollie and Chrissy were incredibly supportive throughout my pregnancy, labor and delivery. They checked in with me regularly and would always respond incredibly fast to my outreaches. I had a very clear idea of how I wanted my labor and delivery to go and they supported every choice and provided guidance and advice. My labor started almost 2 weeks early with my water breaking spontaneously and I ended up needing to head to the hospital straightaway and required some interventions to get contractions going, sending my plan to labor at home as long as possible straight out the window. I’d also hoped to avoid an epidural but back labor and incredibly painful cervical checks had me getting one at 3cm, 12 hours after arriving at the hospital. Hollie and Chrissy were in constant contact with my husband and I throughout the night and following day. Chrissy arrived when I was further progressed and helped tremendously in keeping me calm and grounded and letting me know what to expect at each step. She also thankfully held my epidural-numbed leg when pushing because I couldn’t manage it myself. She took beautiful pictures and video of the birth of my son and was there by my side to calm me when I was being told about my tear (I immediately looked at her when all they said was Grade 2 and she said that’s not that bad!). Hollie and Chrissy have continued to check in with me throughout my postpartum recovery (which has been a struggle to say the least). I can not recommend them enough for anyone looking for a doula team for any type of birth!
